I chose carpet from the 3dsky website for my research.
This is a collection of various carpets.

Generally, they have similar uses and purposes, such as anti-slip and adding decoration or color to a room. Therefore they are bound in this set. But they are also different in many ways — I tried to start to study the components of the carpet:
- form
- size
- color
- material
- texture
- pattern
- use
- history
- origin
- etc

The emotion

Inspired by Michel Foucault, I started to think about what do we think about the patterns, shapes and colors of these carpets? What emotions are evoked by the combination of lines, colors and shapes?

Based on Paul Ekman’s Emotion Wheel, I asked different people to match these rugs to these basic emotions use their own sensations.

Substracting & Recontextualizing

what if I subtract a few parts, just leaving only the main elements?

Feedback
- What is behind this pattern?
- The Emotional chart about anger, sadness, fear, trust is very subjective direction and I wouldn’t necessarily recommend that route, because this is not scientification
- Think about it further in terms of history, where it was made, who made it, what is the combination of history and narrative, etc.
